About The
Homeschool Project

We are building a community where homeschoolers thrive through leadership, curiosity, and real-world experiences.

What If You Could

Our Mission

The Homeschool Project is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2025 by Jonathan and Adriana Prescott. We provide middle school and high school aged homeschoolers with a place of belonging and achievement through passion projects, entrepreneurial endeavors, clubs, teams, honor societies, scholarships, volunteering, fundraising, community involvement, and professional development with local business owners.

We offer classes tailored to fit students’ interests, extracurricular goals, and skill development—both for personal growth and community benefit. Homeschooling parents also benefit from our Washington State Parent Qualifying course and other homeschooling and parenting classes.

The Homeschool Project maximizes the potential that homeschooled children bring by facilitating, developing, and supporting their long-term endeavors with student-led clubs, competitions, entrepreneurial ventures, community service projects, passion pursuits, field trips, etiquette training, internships, apprenticeships, mentoring, educational classes, and workshops. These “Projects” tap into the natural agency that drives the developing mind and spirit to transform barriers into breakthroughs—making dream-driven education and skill acquisition a reality that fulfills physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth.

Our Motto

Our motto is, “What if You Could” which embodies the freedom of what homeschooling means – We don’t place boundaries on ourselves to keep our children from learning what interests them, what makes them passionate, inspires them, provides self-discovery, helps them achieve, and keeps them motivated to learn more. We don’t need permission to teach our children anything we desire and to provide for them the values and virtues of our own family – be it education, opportunities, fulfillment, or goals for their lives. In other words, you can just do anything that comes to mind or that your heart desires. We at The Homeschool Project want to facilitate in making your homeschooling dream become a reality for you.

Our Vision

We envision a vibrant ecosystem where every homeschooler emerges as a confident and resilient leader—empowered to shape their world through meaningful experiences, lifelong connections, and unbridled curiosity. We’re cultivating a generation of innovators, empathic collaborators, and purpose-driven changemakers who thrive beyond traditional boundaries.

OUR STORY

Why We Started The Homeschool Project

Jonathan and Adriana started homeschooling over 16 years ago and have been coaching homeschool families professionally for the last 6 years with their sister company, Homeschool Life LLC. They also wrote one of the best homeschooling books titled, ‘Kids Don’t Need School: A Radical New Homeschool Plan to Teach Anything, Promote Independent Learning, and Prepare Children for an Uncertain Future’. From that success of international acclaim, Jonathan and Adriana built a social media presence on X reaching millions and with more than 26,000 followers connecting to many like-minded homeschoolers.

Through their experience with Homeschool Life LCC and social media presence, Jonathan and Adriana noticed that many homeschool families still faced many challenges in their homeschooling and that in order to solve them it would require a different type of solution than what their current company could provide. They came to the realization that a non-profit organization could not only allow them to provide the right solution to these challenges, but also allow them to reach out to even more homeschool families in desperate need of their homeschooling expertise.

Due to the nature of homeschoolers being underserved in their local communities, some of the challenges that homeschool families face are the lack of extracurricular resources available to them that fully support homeschoolers and their family values, the financial burden that exists on homeschool families’ budgets that limits what they can or cannot afford, especially if they have high-achieving teenagers with ambitious goals, and the lack of resources that help parents aid their homeschooled teens who are suffering from their loss of confidence, heart, and motivation.

With their engineering background and business expertise, Jonathan and Adriana knew exactly how to provide the right solutions to those challenges, hence was the beginning of the founding of The Homeschool Project. With the success that Jonathan and Adriana achieved in homeschooling their teenage daughter now in college combined with what they helped and witnessed other homeschool families achieve, they developed the perfect plans that will allow many homeschool families achieve success stories of their own. The Homeschool Project will provide a myriad of programs that support the homeschool families with ambitious teenagers who have big dreams to those with struggling teenagers that will inspire them to dream again. As the name suggests, The Homeschool Project is a project in itself, always changing to meet the needs of homeschool families.

The startup of The Homeschool Project’s journey was made possible by the receipt of the very first donation from Mr. Walter W. Prescott, Jonathan’s father who tragically passed away in 2024. Despite this personal loss, Jonathan and Adriana felt called to use the inheritance to create The Homeschool Project in Jonathan’s father’s honor and name the first scholarship after him. Thanks to Mr. Walter W. Prescott, The Homeschool Project was able to get a jump start in 2026 with providing services to homeschool families in Eastern and Western Washington State.

Our Governance

The Homeschool Project is governed by a dedicated board of directors who bring diverse expertise and deep commitment to our mission.

MEET OUR FOUNDERS/BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Adriana Prescott

President and Chairman

Adriana Prescott is a retired engineer, homeschool expert, Montessori expert, baker, academic tutor, entrepreneur, and co-author of the internationally selling book Kids Don’t Need School. Adriana spent eleven years of her childhood overseas in South America attending private schools, where she gained extensive personal and social etiquette knowledge, training, and experience. She later immigrated to the United States with her family, attending high school and university in Houston, Texas. During her education, she became fluent in four languages, and is currently in the process of learning two more.

Adriana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology in Controls and Instrumentation Electronics Design. She worked for various engineering and construction companies in both the oil industry and the government sector, including the Hanford Site in Washington State

Adriana has also raised and homeschooled her daughter, Annabel, for more than sixteen years, and continues to support her daughter in her college endeavors. Adriana is the Chief Operations Officer of Extracts by Annabel, a business her daughter created as a passion project. In addition to being in charge of marketing strategies for the business’s products, Adriana has also been teaching her daughter how to run a successful business. Together, they have been selling their vanilla extract at the Prosser Farmer’s Market in Prosser, Washington for several years. Adriana continues to support her daughter’s passions and endeavors to this day, no matter how challenging or ambitious they seem.

In 2019, Adriana started Homeschool Life LLC with her husband, Jonathan, to help parents transition into homeschooling. She has coached many families, both worldwide and across the United States. Under her guidance they are thriving in homeschooling their children, regardless of their circumstances. This business also has led her to join various social media platforms as a content creator and podcast participant to promote homeschooling, eventually leading to her writing and publishing Kids Don’t Need School.

In 2024, Adriana entertained the idea of starting a nonprofit business in order to connect with more homeschool families and support them in their homeschool endeavors.  Adriana believes that learning should be a process that brings joy to children, and aims to instill in them a love of learning. Her methods allow children the freedom to develop their agency, teach themselves, and feel empowered to pursue their success and happiness. This belief is what led Adriana to build The Homeschool Project in 2025.

Adriana has retired from more than twenty years of Engineering and Project Engineering in order to dedicate her time and efforts to The Homeschool Project. Her goal is to fully support the homeschool and business communities in Eastern Washington. With her professional etiquette gained from her business, professional experience, and her Etiquette Consultant Certification, Adriana plans to train preteens and teens in the arts of etiquette. Adriana is also currently pursuing a Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Business in order to complement her entrepreneurial endeavors. It is Adriana’s dream to make all her knowledge, skills, experiences, creativity, and wisdom accessible to all homeschoolers.

Jonathan Prescott

Vice-President and Treasurer

Jonathan Prescott is a retired engineer, BS in Psychology, entrepreneur, and co-author of the internationally selling book Kids Don’t Need School. Jonathan, being a son of an engineer, grew up in Houston, Texas and in Saudi Arabia.

He is an alumnus of Oral Roberts University (Theology), Colorado Tech (project management), and Excelsior University (Psychology). He spent his early career in the ministry as a missionary in the Philippines in 1988, a youth pastor, and an ordained minister in Houston, TX. Later, he was a college instructor at ITT Technical Institute teaching engineering design (1998-2000). During his 30 years as an electrical designer in engineering, he worked on some of the largest engineering projects in the world – from petrochemical, pipeline, Dept. of Defense, Dept. of Energy, and power generation.

Jonathan has been an active homeschool dad for 16+ years. His mission, inspired by his love of lifelong learning, is dedicated to helping homeschooling families thrive, and revolutionize home-based education into a superpower for you and your children.

In 2019 Jonathan started Homeschool Life LLC with his wife Adriana, with the goal of helping parents begin homeschooling. They have coached many different families, who now can homeschool in a way that supports their children’s best interests. This business also led him to his current success in various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter) to promote homeschooling. In 2023, he and his wife wrote the book Kids Don’t Need School, in order to guide parents both new to and familiar with homeschooling.

Since 2020, Jonathan has been a social media influencer on X, reaching millions of people and a follower count of over 23,000 under the account @homeschool_LLC. Homeschool Life LLC’s priority and mission is in promoting homeschooling and the improvement of the parent/child relationship, as well as to build close bonds through a peaceful environment that promotes trust, agency, and mentoring.

Being [in part] homeschooled himself, Jonathan has always seen the homeschooling movement as an important societal, cultural, and philosophical touchstone as it provides the Family as the best solution to promote freedom and education excellence in the best possible environment – a loving home.

Tragedy happened in 2024 when Jonathan lost both parents within a 6-month period. Jonathan’s father, Walter Prescott, being an electrical engineer himself, was a significant figure in Jonathan’s life and influenced him to pursue a career in engineering. Because of this, Jonathan made the decision to use his inheritance and savings to launch The Homeschool Project, offering scholarships in Engineering and STEM named after his father, Walter Prescott. As the scope of The Homeschool Project evolved with the input of his wife Adriana, the scholarships have remained a core element to honor his father’s legacy.
